ONE YEAR - Remembering

I saw you today……….

……You were dressed head-to-toe cyclist, heading out to the path, but you doubled-back just to stroke my hair, as I pretended to sleep.

I saw you today………

……You walked towards me with that first brewed cup, but it’s your dimples that woke me, so I sipped just to be with you - and welcome the day.

I saw you today…….

…..You held my hand through the pain, as I struggled and wept, finally making it to that miraculous moment – to welcome each of our sons to the world we called home.

I saw you today…….

……You laughed at my silliness as I laughed back at yours – our secret language and humor – could others ever understand?

I saw you today…….

…….You kissed my hand as I left – something I cherished so much.  I wish I had told you how happy that made me.  Maybe you knew?

I saw you today…….
.
……..You handed me M&Ms that you picked up on the way home - just because. You picked up extras, as I would find out, hidden in cabinets and drawers, just waiting for me to find them - when I needed them most.

I saw you today……..

……..You were a man, brother, son, friend, father, husband.  In each light, I saw you.

……..In my dreams, in my memory, in my heart.

I saw you today.

You were there.
